The speedily increasing economic pressure and the wish to create a happy family union have caused Russian females to turn to the West in search of a better life. Marriages to foreigners have become the latest trend in Russia. The number of marriage services promoting international marriages grows up yearly. For most Russian females to be a housewife in Russia is a luxury. The frequently altering economic situation has forced females to seek jobs to provide for their families. Infrequent are cases when Russian men are able to earn enough, hence that their wives may stay at home. Russian females find it very hard to make a career and are lower-paid than their male counterparts. Even a successful career does not guarantee a good standard of living. Educated Russian ladies find it easier to get used to a new lifestyle. They are certain that marriage to a foreign man will enable them to find a better life for themselves. The ability to combine a career with domestic obligations makes them the best wives for western males. Social and economic pressures have turned a considerably huge percentage of Russian men to alcohol addicts. Moreover, Russian males normally spend time with friends, chase after other girls, drink and are unwilling to help about the house. There is also a demographic disproportion between males nad females. Females outnumber men by approximately 12 percent in the age group of 30 and above. Thus, Russian women have fewer opportunities of finding a suitable husband in their own country. Women who lack confidence, put up with the unaccepted conduct of their husbands, others break up with their partners. A large number of Russian women think that western males make better life partners, because they are more liberated, family-oriented than Russian men, as well as will pitch in with the domestic duties. Therefore, desperate Russian ladies leave the fatherland in search of stable, secure life abroad. In their quest for a stable and financially secure life, Russian ladies are even open to marriage to considerably older foreign men. As for overseas men, the rapidly increasing divorce rate and a significant decline in family values have forced many overseas men to turn to Russian brides for emotional comfort. |
